Scratch/Chip
The products required to complete a complete repair are;
- Colour Matched Hardwax
- Battery Melting Tool or Gas Heating Iron
- Special Applicator
- Special Scraper
- Colour Touch Up Bottles
- Maintenance Lacquer & Sponge
Step by step guide
Firstly, carefully remove any high points of the damage using a chisel or a suitable tool of your choice.
Heat a Colour Matched Hardwax stick with your heating tool. For some woodgrains, we would recommend mixing and combing two colours of hardwax together. This tool can then be used to work in the melting wax into the damage until it is overfilled. Briefly allow the wax to cool down for a few seconds
Finally, level off the area using a special applicator tool.
Once the area is flat and clear of excess wax, create any open grain lines if necessary, using a metal scraper or a sharp tool.
Depending on the woodgrain you are repairing, you may need to paint in the grain detail using the colour touch up bottles.
To finish the repair, apply a light coat of maintenance lacquer over the whole profile using the maintenance sponge.
